Professional Bio

Scott currently serves as the Associate Head of School for The New Community School. The New Community School's mission focuses on empowering bright, talented students who are challenged by dyslexia and related learning differences. Prior to joining The New Community School Scott served as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Henrico County Public Schools. Scott has extensive higher education experience having served as chair of the University of Richmond’s graduate teacher licensure program. Earlier in his career Scott also served as a member of the William and Mary T/TAC where he was responsible for providing training and technical assistance to local school divisions with a specific focus on supporting students with disabilities. Scott worked directly with underperforming schools in the implementation of research based effective practices for students with disabilities. As a former member of the VDOE assessment team and building administrator at the high school level Scott brings a depth of experience and a history of collaborative work with key stakeholders in the development of strategic plans for improvement of student outcomes.
