Professional Bio

Currently a Learning Specialist at University School of Nashville, I bring over 20 years of experience focused on the intersection of regulation, rigor, and the science of learning. My work centers on helping students understand their individual neurotypes and apply neuroscience-informed strategies that strengthen metacognition, executive functioning, and academic independence.

With a background in special education, social-emotional learning, and applied educational neuroscience, I partner with faculty, students, and families to translate research into practical classroom application. I am particularly interested in how universal design and intentional classroom conditions normalize productive struggle, build cognitive flexibility, and expand access to meaningful challenge.

My experience includes curriculum design, MTSS frameworks, and leading professional learning for educators . I have collaborated with Facebook’s InspirED, CASEL, and ASCD’s Differentiated Instruction Cadre, and my work has been featured on Edutopia and in the Tennessee Department of Education’s SEL Educator Toolkit.
