Professional Bio

John Farber joined RG175 in 2017, bringing nearly four decades of experience in independent day and boarding schools, including more than 20 years as a Head of School. He is widely respected for his expertise in board governance, strategic planning, fundraising, and personnel leadership.

John served as Head of School at Old Trail School (OH) for 17 years and South Kent School (CT) for four years. Earlier roles include Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Belmont Hill School (MA), Director of Development and Admissions at Darrow School (NY), and positions at the Winston School in Dallas (TX), Landmark School (MA), and Landmark College (VT).

A leader in the profession, John served 11 years on the board of the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS), including three years as Chair. He co-founded the International Boys’ Schools Coalition (IBSC) and the Independent Schools Benefits Consortium (ISBC), and has served on the boards of CAIS and OAIS. He currently serves on the board of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is an emeritus trustee of South Kent School.

Since joining RG175, John has completed 55 Head of School and senior administrative searches nationwide, facilitated 29 governance trainings, and led 18 strategic thinking workshops. He is a frequent presenter at local, regional, and national education conferences.

John holds a BA from Trinity University and an MA in Guidance and Counseling from Antioch University.
