I began my career teaching math and computer science. At the challenge of one of my principals, I developed a passion for creating a high-relationship, high-rigor classroom environment. In 2008 I began my Montessori training, which didn't change who I was, but how I was in the classroom, helping me move forward in using content as a conduit for relationships with students. I then began to seek more challenge in my career and was given responsibilities like making schedules and designing whole-team lesson plans. This eventuated into me being offered my supervisor's job when she moved on. I'm currently the Middle School Division Head; I still teach, and I supervise five faculty members. I am currently working on how to have hard but necessary conversations, and I'm reviewing my instruction units to add more experiential learning.
