Professional Bio

Trina O’Connor is completing her fifth year as the Lower and Intermediate School Division Head at The Fletcher School. This summer, she will transition into her new role as Executive Director of The Rankin Institute. With over 25 years of teaching experience across private, public, and independent school settings. Her commitment to students with Language-Based Learning Disabilities is evidenced by her role on the district-level Special Needs Committee, her successful three-year initiative to establish a Learning Support Lending Lab, and her service on the board of IDA-NC. Previously, speaking at the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools, she has continued to present on multisensory education, Implementing Executive Functioning Skills in a K-12 School, and Leading from the Middle. Trina holds a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s in Reading Education (K-12), and an Associate Level Certification from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham.
