Professional Bio
Keith Evans is the fifth president of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta. Since assuming the role in July 2014, he has advanced Westminster’s mission through a focus on academic excellence, student well-being, and innovation in teaching and learning. Under his leadership, Westminster expanded interdisciplinary programming, deepened community partnerships, and enhanced its campus through an era of ambitious goals and unprecedented challenges.
He previously served as head of The Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia, from 1999-2014 and held leadership roles at three Tennessee schools: St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis, the Webb School of Knoxville, and McCallie School in Chattanooga.
A graduate of Davidson College, he also holds master’s degrees from Harvard and the University of Tennessee. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Evans has been recognized for his service and thought leadership in the broader educational and civic communities. He has held fellowships with the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University, and currently serves on the boards of the Gateway Center, Georgia Works, and A Better Chance.
Evans has also been a contributor to SAIS throughout his independent school career, chairing several accreditation visits and serving on the SAIS Board of Trustees from 2000-2013, including appointments as treasurer, chair, and past chair. Additionally, he founded the SAIS Institute for Strategic Leadership and served as its leader from 2011-2019, offering his experience and knowledge to help equip school leaders with the tools to think and act strategically in complex, rapidly changing environments. Under his guidance, participants explored what strategy meant in practice, how to lead effectively in times of ongoing crisis, and what it took to shape organizations that were future-focused and resilient.
He and his wife, Emilie, are the proud parents of two sons, Ronnie and Hank.
