Peter Nilsson, Author, Educator, Consultant

Peter Nilsson is an educator, author, and musician who has spent his career creating opportunities for others to learn and teach. He is the co-author, with Maya Bialik, of Irreplaceable: How AI Changes Everything (and Nothing) in Teaching and Learning (Solution Tree, 2026), a research-based reflection and playbook for teachers, school leaders, and those who support them.

Peter consults on AI in schools and strategic planning with Aptonym and serves on advisory boards for SXSW EDU, the Center for Curriculum Redesign, and the Middle States Association's Responsible AI in Learning initiative. He has presented on creativity, cognitive science, and AI at SXSW EDU, NAIS, the College Board, and the OECD. He also curates The Educator's Notebook, a weekly newsletter now past its 500th issue, and founded Athena, a platform for teachers to share practice.

Previously, Peter served as Head of School at King's Academy in Jordan, where he led through the pandemic and focused on governance, financial sustainability, and scaling impact. Before that, he taught for fifteen years at Deerfield Academy and held a variety of leadership roles. He is also developing Schooled the Musical, a full-length musical set in a school, whose first act debuted as a staged reading at SXSW EDU in 2026.
