Streamlining Curriculum Through Storyboarding
Zoom
Event Details
How often do you hear the concern that we have a jam-packed, bloated curriculum that is overwhelming teachers and students? This webinar will help us make choices addressing: What to cut out? What to cut back? What to consolidate? What to create? Participants will engage in understanding the streamlining process and groundbreaking work on storyboarding. We will examine storyboards being developed by independent schools from around the country and the world. In particular, Woodward Academy will how they have designed storyboards to include students as partners in a learning journey and directly engage parents. By shifting curriculum composition to a narrative approach with clear connections across the school year, student-accessible language, and imagery, we increase the depth of our students' understanding and connect to their imaginations. This approach is being utilized across the nation and internationally for all learners K-12 and now for adults. Developed by Heidi Hayes Jacobs and Allison Zmuda, in their recently released book Streamlining the Curriculum: Using the Storyboard Approach to Frame Compelling Learning Journeys (ASCD), this session will be exciting and loaded with a gallery of dynamic examples.
